Google probably has one Chromecast found, but check the number / letter combination with the TV anyway.

After following these steps you can get started! There are a number of pitfalls in the installation process.

Chromecast installing: common problems (and solutions)

If you have followed the steps above, the Chromecast in all likelihood. If not, there are a number of common issues that prevent you from downloading the Chromecast can install.

The most common problem when installing/streaming to the Chromecast is that your smartphone/tablet is not connected to the same network as the Chromecast. Make sure they're both on the same Wi-Fi network!

Below I mention some of these issues.

  • Chromecast is not 'empty' - As the Chromecast already used, then there are already settings on the device. Fortunately, this is very easy to remedy Chromecast reset to be carried out.
  • Different WiFi networks – Did you go through the process, but can't cast? Don't see the icon appear? Then there is a good chance that you are not on the same WiFi network. Make sure your smartphone/tablet and the Chromecast use the same wifi.
  • No support for 5GHz Wi-Fi – Do you have an older one? Chromecast, it may not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. Then make sure that you temporarily switch off the 5GHz in your router, so that you can use the Chromecast installation at 2,4 GHz.

Is the Chromecast installation on TV failed, or are you running into other problems? Below are a number of useful links. Hopefully this will allow you to stream to your heart's content.

Can't figure it out yet? Google has one visual guide made about the installation, perhaps you can continue with that.

This is how you start a video/music on your new one Chromecast

Now the Chromecast installation on TV is successful, of course you want to start streaming, but how exactly does that work?

Fortunately, it's very easy! Of course you have to make sure that the TV is on and that the correct HDMI channel is set.

There are two ways to stream content depending on the model Chromecast that you have.

  • Via smartphone/tablet/PC – Do you have another Chromecast 1,2,3 or Ultra (all black) then you can start streams via your smartphone. You do this by going to the app that you want to stream to the TV. If it has support AND you're on the same Wi-Fi network, you can start the stream. You do this by clicking it Chromecasticon as shown in the screenshot below and then your Chromecast to select. Stream!
  • Remote control (Chromecast with Google TV) – If you have the white version, you also have one Chromecast remote control received. This allows you to get started and download apps from Google's Play Store just like on your smartphone. For example, you can choose this Netflix, Youtube, ViaPlay, Amazon Prime or other services. You operate this with the remote control. Of course, the method as described above also works with your smartphone/tablet or PC.

Do you have a Chromecast with Google TV, then you can go through all screens with the remote control

It may also happen that you want to adjust settings on the Chromecast. You also do this in the Google Home app that you use during the installation.

When you open the Google Home app, you will automatically see a list of devices. For example, here are also Google Home devices that you added earlier. Here is the Chromecast also in between.

Chromecast settings
To change the settings of the Chromecast to adjust, you need the Google Home app. The step-by-step plan below shows you exactly what you need to do Chromecast manage.

You should already have the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet. Open this one
Search here for your Chromecast
In the list of Google Home devices, find your Chromecast. Then tap it.

In the top right corner you will see a settings icon. Press to access the settings.

This is per Chromecast different how this looks exactly, but below an example of mine Chromecast.

The above also works on the Chromecast with Google TV, however, you can also do this with the remote control. Navigate to the settings and adjust everything here to your liking!
