If you want to install the Ziggo app on Samsung TV, you will soon come home from a rude awakening. The app is not in the Tizen app store, so how are you supposed to get that done?
When you first purchase a Samsung TV, you will probably find yourself in a completely new environment. The software you use is called Tizen, which was developed by Samsung itself. Tizen has its advantages, but unfortunately also a number of disadvantages.
The main drawback of Tizen is that there are fewer apps available for it than on Android TV (from Google) or tvOS (from Apple). As a result, you may miss specific apps on the platform. As a result, you cannot use the system as you used to from your smart TV.
And now you probably feel it coming a little bit. Using the Ziggo app on Samsung TV is not yet possible, because that app is simply not available for that platform. That is annoying, because you often find out about such things much too late (such as after unpacking).
There is no Ziggo app on Samsung TV, what now?
However, this does not mean that you are now completely sidelined, but we can imagine that this is hard to swallow. Because why is there no Ziggo app available on Samsung TVs? If you check the Ziggo forum, you know neither do employees, actually.

The same employee also does not know whether that app will ever be available again. So for now we have to make do with what we have. Fortunately, there are some options available, but chances are that you will have to spend extra money. We'll start with the first option, which may not cost anything extra.
Ziggo app on Samsung TV: via a browser
The first option we have at our disposal is through a browser. This can be done in two ways: via the browser on your TV or via the browser on your computer. You should already have a browser on your TV. If not yet, you can download one from the app store.
However, this is not a solution without problems. It is possible that the browser does not display the Ziggo website correctly. And then you run into all kinds of compatibility problems, which you unfortunately cannot solve yourself. Downloading a different browser may make all the difference.
Another option may be: via a computer or laptop. In this case, you'll need an extra HDMI cable and a laptop or computer that has its own HDMI port. You also need to make sure that you can place the computer close to the TV and that you can supply it with power.
You may need to purchase an HDMI cable for this setup. But you can often find them online for a few euros. Otherwise, you may be able to go to a parts store in the village where you live, or look up the nearest electronics market chain.

It is now clear: the Samsung TV has no standard Chromecastoptions on board. But there are plenty of options to to get around that problem. The most important thing is that you Chromecast install correctly, by connecting the dongle to the same network as your smartphone.
When you do that, you can, for example, display content from the Ziggo app on Samsung TV from a smartphone or tablet. You then open the app, select the content and press the Cast button (an elongated square with a WiFi icon in it). Then select the Chromecast.
The Ziggo app can of course also be installed on Apple TV.
Finally, we have one more option at our disposal. This is the most expensive option, but also the most versatile. You can invest in a nice Android TV set-top box. For example, you have them from brands such as Xiaomi and Nvidia. Those set-top boxes run on Android TV and have Chromecast on-board.
With an Android TV set-top box under your Samsung TV, you also get access to almost all missing streaming apps. Android TV as a platform simply offers more than Tizen. Moreover, it is good to know that this version of the app does offer all content.
